How It Works: A radio signal is sent by the transmitter to a receiver on your dog’s collar. The signal is transmitted through a wire which is placed along the boundaries you want to establish. The wire is really an antenna that carries the signal. You can adjust the signal to up to 15 feet from the wire. In most cases, a 4-6 foot signal field will be the best for optimal training. The receiver provides a warning beep as your dog approaches the wire. If he starts to cross the wire, he will receive a mild correction. Although the correction is harmless, it will dissuade him from continuing: When using the remote, the fence transmitter floods the area inside the boundary wire with the signal and this activates the receiver. All receivers within the boundary will activate when the remote is used. If you have more than one dog, you may want to remove the receiver from the other dogs so they do not get a correction.
The PetSafe In-Ground Radio Fence has been proven safe, comfortable, and effective for all pets over 8 pounds. The system works by producing a radio signal from the Fence Transmitter through up to 2800 feet of Boundary Wire. The Boundary Wire is buried or attached to a fixed object to enclose the Pet Area. You temporarily define this Pet Area with Boundary Flags for a visual aid in training your pet. Your pet wears a Receiver Collar with Contact Points that touch his neck, and, once trained, is allowed to roam freely in the Pet Area. When your pet reaches the Warning Zone, the Receiver Collar gives a warning beep. The In-Ground Radio Fence keeps your dog contained and safe away from pools and flowerbeds and out of danger from cars and other hazards. With the radio fence you design lay out and control the wire boundary. The wire acts like an antenna picking up signals from the transmitter and sending them to your dog's receiver/collar.
