When you know why your dog barks it will make things easy for you to train it and to take the right actions.

For example, if your dog is barking because it wants outside the simple solution may be to let it outside. Once that is over your dog can relax and stop it's barking. Of course it could be barking at something outside. But the point is that you have to address the situation head on.

A dog that is bored needs more attention from it's owner, it needs more walks, and more play time. You don't want your dog to be constantly shocked just because it is bored.

One of the best ways you can stop your dog from barking is to make a noise that distracts your dog from what it is barking at. Some people like to do this by putting something in a cane or bottle and then shake it. Simply clapping your hands or whistling may also work well.

Barking At Your Neighbors

Allot of dogs bark at the neighbors. If your dog does this then you should try to introduce your dog to your neighbor. As your dog gets to know your neighbor he or she is less likely to bark at them. Be sure that your neighbors are not teasing your dog when you are not there.
