MOMETAMAX Otic Suspension is indicated for the treatment of canine otitis externa in dogs caused by susceptible strains of yeast (Malassezia pachydermatis) and bacteria (Pseudomonas spp. including P. aeruginosa], coagulase-positive staphylococci, Enterococcus faecalis, Proteus mirabilis, and beta-hemolytic streptococci).Each gram of MOMETAMAX Otic Suspension contains gentamicin sulfate, USP equivalent to 3 mg gentamicin base; mometasone furoate monohydrate equivalent to 1 mg mometasone; and 10 mg clotrimazole, USP in a mineral oil-based system containing a plasticized hydrocarbon gel.DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATIONThe external ear canal should be thoroughly cleaned and dried before treatment. Verify that the eardrum is intact. For dogs weighing less than 30 lbs, instill 4 drops from the 7.5 g, 15 g, OR 30 g bottles of MOMETAMAX Otic Suspension once daily into the ear canal. ACAREXX (ivermectin) is indicated for the treatment of adult ear mite (Otodectes cynotis) infestations in cats and kittens four weeks of age or older. Effectiveness against eggs and immature stages has not been proven. Net contents: Two ampules per pouch. Each ampule contains 0.5 mL of 0.01 ivermectin otic suspension.ACAREXX is administered topically in the ear canal at an ivermectin concentration of 0.01%. One dose of 0.5 mL is applied in each ear. Repeat treatment one time if necessary, based upon the ear mite life cycle and the response to treatment.ADMINISTRATION: Tear foil pouch at the notch to remove the two plastic ampules. Use one ampule per ear. Shake well before use. Snap off the cap of the ampule and place the tip into the external ear canal. Squeeze the entire contents of one ampule into the ear and massage the base of the ear to distribute the medication. Repeat the procedure in the other ear using the second ampule. In clinical field trials, ears were not cleaned and many animals still had debris in their ears at the end of the study. Remove foreign material, debris, crusted exudates, etc., with suitable nonirriating solutions. Excessive hair should be clipped from the treatment area. After verifying that the eardrum is intact, instill 4 drops of OTOMAX ointment twice daily into the ear canal of dogs weighing less than 30 lbs. Instill 8 drops twice daily into the ear canal of dogs weighting 30 lbs or more. Massage external ear canal carefully after installation to ensure appropriate distribution of medication.
